1986 to be precisie, why not? It is such a light hearted movie narrated by Ferris, a teen in his last stage of high school that cuts class and, instead, takes his best friend and girlfriend out for a fun day, not to mention, in a Ferari owned by his friend’s obsessive and controlling father.
Everything about this story was loveable. Corny? Perhaps. But it was a great way to spend my Saturday afternoon with friends and popcorn.
The principal was very much like John Cleese to me, the character Basil Fawlty from the British comedy series Fawlty Towers is exactly who I was reminded of.
If you have had a busy day and just want a laugh, this would be good to watch. If you are a teenager you can mock how “old-looking” the characters are with their 80s haircuts and fashion. If you are an adult coming home from a long day at work you can be happy that this is not what your kids spend their day doing…or is it? Maybe it’s just me that hasn’t joined in a street parade and started singing with a group of girls dressed somewhat like The Flintstones.
Hope you had a smirt day 🙂
Here is what I thought about The Descendants 🙂
It was pretty good, the director (Alex Payne) did really well and I think George Clooney is a great actor. I really liked how the movie started (and the movie on a whole) but I guess I just expected too much from it after seeing the adverts and all the hype with the award nominations etc
I do advise watching it, it really is good, I like the story line and how it is not purely based on the wife/mum, who is dying due to a boat accident. It is very funny in places (I found the character Sid highly amusing, I expected to see him in the ending) the storyline also has topics that many people may be able to relate to.
In some ways, well the concept of losing a wife or mum, it reminded me of two other movies (which are both in my list of favourites) The Boys Are Back and Reign Over Me. Personally I prefer these movies over The Descendants, they have similar themes, yet are very different from each other.
So overall I was slightly disappointed, but despite this I still enjoyed it.
Have a smirt day!
